Directorate: Amnesty International Indonesia Section
Location: Jakarta
Job Type: Temporary Role
Working Hours: 40 hours
Closing Date: 13 November 2026

Amnesty International Indonesia is seeking a Campaigner to develop and implement campaign and advocacy strategies, mainly on civic space. The role will help turn human rights research and analysis into coordinated actions, compelling public communications, and advocacy that contribute to meaningful change.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Reporting to the Campaign Manager, the Campaigner contributes to overarching civic space campaign and advocacy strategies and leads the development and implementation of specific strategies aimed at improving the human rights situation in Indonesia.

The role monitors political and human rights developments, supports research where appropriate, develops campaign and advocacy materials, and communicates Amnesty International's concerns and key messages to supporters, civil society, government, the media, and other relevant audiences. It also maintains and expands networks with national and international partners and contributes to regional strategies and plans.

JOB PURPOSE
Working closely with the Research, Communications, Community Engagement and Growth, and Media teams, as well as colleagues across the Amnesty International movement, the Campaigner develops and coordinates evidence-based campaigns and advocacy initiatives that are strategic, deliverable, and responsive to Indonesia's human rights context.

The position plans, monitors, and evaluates campaign actions; produces high-quality materials for internal and external audiences, represents Amnesty International where appropriate, and supports effective team coordination through clear priorities, work plans, progress monitoring, and basic budget management.

ABOUT YOU
You have experience developing and implementing strategic campaigns and advocacy initiatives. You understand how campaign objectives, audiences, tactics, and actions work together to influence change, and you are able to monitor and evaluate progress.

You have a strong understanding of Indonesia's political and human rights landscape, with knowledge of advocacy at national or international level, including the UN system. You can analyse complex developments and translate them into clear campaign messages, materials, and recommendations.

You are confident building relationships and collaborating with civil society organisations, partners, supporters, and colleagues across different functions. You can represent the organisation in public forums and use creative approaches, including digital campaigning tools, to motivate people to take action.

You have project or programme management skills and can manage competing demands, meet deadlines, adjust priorities, and handle the administrative responsibilities needed for effective delivery.

Fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia is required, both verbally and in writing. You also demonstrate a clear commitment to human rights, equality, cultural diversity, and gender equality.

ABOUT US
Amnesty International Indonesia is a national human rights entity that is part of a global human rights movement, established to address national human rights priorities as well as create the possibility for people in Indonesia to join Amnesty International's global human rights campaigns. Our mission in Indonesia is to address pertinent national human rights issues through research, campaigning and human rights education, and to empower Indonesians to take action on issues that matter to them through AI's international human rights movement; and to leverage Indonesia's influence regionally and globally to promote human rights domestically, bilaterally and internationally.

Please note that this role will only be based in Jakarta.
