We are now seeking to recruit an exceptional Marketing and Communications professional to lead our department on an international scale.

JOB PURPOSE:
In this pivotal role of Programme Director for Marketing and Communications, you will lead a dynamic team of over 40 employees who are crafting compelling narratives, developing innovative campaigns, and strengthening our global presence.
You will lead a strategic programme that puts audience insights first, drives digital innovation and shapes and supports priorities in public engagement, fundraising and movement building to further the organization's human rights objectives.
This position ensures that Amnesty International aligns and optimizes communications strategies, services and assets for Amnesty International entities globally and within the International Secretariat, and ensures that messages are effective in delivering human rights change and are distributed widely and effectively across Amnesty's audiences globally.
The successful applicant will be offered a permanent contract.
LOCATION
The preferred location for this role is London, other locations will be considered where there is an Amnesty office and within a 2 hour time difference to the UK.
Amnesty International operates a hybrid working policy.
The salary on offer will be dependent on the location.
ABOUT YOU
You will have extensive proven experience as a global strategic communications and marketing leader with management of large international and multidisciplinary communications teams, as well as a passion for human rights.
You will be knowledgeable of the issues concerning major political and human rights issues globally and have previous experience of driving integrated communications campaigns for global audiences.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a large, multidisciplinary communications and marketing team.
- Direct the development and implementation of a Global Communications and Marketing strategic direction for the organisation to ensure messaging, audience engagement, innovation and impact steer IS content.
- Enable the Digital Engagement Strategy ensuring website, social media, email marketing and digital campaigning channels support wider organisational objectives.
- Support the Global News and Media team, advancing human rights awareness through targeted media coverage and managing reputational risk.
- Develop and champion editorial, visual and audio-visual aspects of Amnesty's global identity
- Serve as part of a senior management team at the International Secretariat in support of the Senior Director for Marketing, Engagement and Partnerships.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Working in a campaigning and media environment and using communications to achieve campaigning objectives.
- Digitally fluent, an impact-focused communications professional with extensive experience in running a fully integrated, audience-led, multi-disciplinary, multi-channel and metrics-driven global communications operation in a high-powered global context with competing priorities.
- Strong creative and visionary flair combined with solid management expertise, particularly in the area of collaboration, team building, planning and performance management, and the proven ability to bring together individuals and teams to build trust and deliver on shared objectives.
- Proven experience of providing cross-platform creative solutions for campaigning needs, including the development of innovative content to help achieve campaign objectives, including messaging and identity-building for successful campaigning organizations.
- Experience of enhancing, guarding and communicating a global brand to external global audiences.
- Proven experience of planning, designing and delivering operational plans, budget management and succession planning, and the ability to make difficult decisions.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Solid experience of working in complex, dispersed international organizations with a highly motivated workforce, and a strong understanding of the principles and practice of matrix management.
