JOB PURPOSE

Amnesty International is looking for a dynamic and creative Digital Content Producer and Social Media Officer to join our West & Central Africa Regional Office in Dakar. This exciting role is at the heart of our storytelling and digital communications strategy, producing compelling, human-centered content that advances our human rights agenda across the region.

If you're a bilingual (English/French) content creator with a flair for fast-paced digital storytelling, and a strong portfolio of video and social media work, this is your chance to help shape public conversation around human rights in West & Central Africa.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, script, shoot, and edit creative, high-quality audio-visual content tailored for social media, internal platforms, and external media.
  • React swiftly to news and trending topics with short-form videos, graphics, and copy that reflect Amnesty's priorities and values.
  • Distribute digital content across social channels and manage uploads in line with our global digital asset system (ADAM).
  • Monitor and report on social media engagement and performance, using analytics to inform future strategies and test new approaches.
  • Collaborate with campaigners, media teams, local sections, and digital colleagues across the movement to develop content strategies and editorial calendars.
  • Ensure all content meets Amnesty's brand, ethical, and copyright standards.
  • Contribute to the growth and engagement of Amnesty's digital audiences in the region, particularly by identifying innovative ways to connect with supporters and amplify regional voices.
  • Provide strategic input on social media trends and platform shifts, advising teams on adapting content accordingly.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience in video content creation, from scripting to post-production, with a strong portfolio to show for it.
  • Expert-level video editing using Adobe Premiere (or Final Cut Pro); familiarity with After Effects is a plus.
  • Strong storytelling instincts, especially in a human rights or social justice context.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French, with excellent writing skills in both.
  • Experience producing content for diverse digital platforms and managing multilingual digital presence.
  • Understanding of ethical storytelling and working sensitively with survivors of human rights violations.
  • Knowledge of content strategy, audience engagement, and social media analytics.
  • Confident using Canva and email marketing tools; experience with ad platforms (Meta, Twitter, LinkedIn) is desirable.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively, often under pressure and to tight deadlines.
  • Experience with community management and working in or with the West & Central Africa region is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel internationally on occasion

Please see the attached job description for more information on the responsibilities, skills and experience required.
