AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL NIGERIA: COMMUNICATIONS AND MEDIA MANAGER OPPORTUNITY

Amnesty International Nigeria is seeking a strategic and creative media professional to join our team as a Communications and Media Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to shape public narratives, amplify human rights messages, and elevate the voice of Amnesty's work across Nigeria and beyond.

ROLE SUMMARY

As Communications and Media Manager, you will lead the development and delivery of compelling media and digital strategies that drive public engagement and visibility of Amnesty International Nigeria's campaigns. You will be responsible for building strong media relations, managing digital platforms, and ensuring that Amnesty's messaging is impactful, timely, and aligned with our human rights mission.

We aim to foster a culture of respect for human rights through credible research, campaigning, and public engagement across Nigeria.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Strategy Development: Create and implement robust communication, media, and digital strategies to support campaign goals.
  • Digital Leadership: Manage and grow Amnesty Nigeria's digital presence, including social media, website, blogs, and multimedia platforms.
  • Media Engagement: Develop press releases, statements, and briefing materials. Build and maintain relationships with national and international media outlets.
  • Content Creation: Draft and oversee high-quality, on-brand content to support Amnesty's advocacy efforts.
  • Monitoring & Reporting: Analyze media trends and digital analytics, providing regular insights and recommendations to enhance visibility and impact.
  • Stakeholder Representation: Represent Amnesty Nigeria at external events and in media engagements, conveying our positions and priorities with clarity and professionalism.
  • Team Management: Lead and support the communications team, including social media, digital campaign, and supporter engagement officers.

This list is not exhaustive; the successful candidate will take on additional duties aligned with their expertise as needed. 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in communication, journalism, or media operations, with a track record of success in strategy and execution.
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, International Relations, Social Sciences or related fields (Master's degree preferred).
  • Proven leadership in digital and social media communications across platforms like Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
  • Strong writing and editorial skills, with experience crafting messaging for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated interest and involvement in human rights, social justice, or advocacy.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment.
